Dublin Diner

Visitors can place their order for something good to eat at the swinging Dublin Diner. Fashioned as an American 1950's style diner, songs from the 1950's can be played on an old fashioned jukebox mounted on the wall. Put on your Chef’s hat and get busy in the well-stocked kitchen preparing food for all the family.

  • Find the food in the fridge
  • Cook up a tasty dish in the kitchen
  • Tidy up the plates and food
  • Pour some drinks
  • Operate the till

  • Press the buttons on the drinks machine and discover the sounds of a busy kitchen
  • Listen to songs on the jukebox
  • Feel the different textures of the food in the fridge

  • Try on a costume - you can be the chef busy in the kitchen or a waiter hurrying to serve the customers
  • Take a seat at the diner table, pop on the jukebox and decide what to order from the waitress

Kitchen role play is a great way of teaching children about healthy food choices. It also helps in understanding concepts such as sorting and classification. It encourages children to use basic counting skills: "I would like 2 desserts and 3 coffees please." It also encourages then to make choices and decisions: "I'll have a plate of spaghetti please.
